James Carpenter

This seems like a logical fit considering James Carpenter has experience of playing in the NFC South and general manager Scott Fitterer was director of college scouting when the Seattle Seahawks selected him in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft.

Carpenter is still looking for a new home after a parting of the ways with the Atlanta Falcons, which represents an intriguing option providing the interior lineman has kept himself in good condition away from the gridiron.

The former Alabama stud has 127 career games under his belt and featured 13 times for the Falcons last time around. He is also a Super Bowl winner from his time with the Seahawks.

If the Carolina Panthers explore who might be able to slot in at a moment’s notice in free agency, then Fitterer’s previous knowledge of Carpenter makes him a potentially solid addition.

It’s not an easy time of year to identify these sorts of players. Especially considering they didn’t have the benefit of training camp or even being a member of a practice squad somewhere.

However, the Panthers might not have much of a choice if Daley’s fluffs his lines at the Houston Texans and those in power remain insistent on keeping Brady Christensen out of the firing line.
