Christian Kirksey – LB

The Houston Texans are one of the oldest teams in the league and one of those guys is Christian Kirksey. The 29-year-old is currently on his third team in the last three seasons but commands the defense anywhere he goes.

Against the Carolina Panthers, he’ll line up as the MIKE linebacker and will wear the green dot. Basically, Kirksey acts as the quarterback of the defense and will be relaying the play-calls to the rest of the unit.

Kirksey played with the same responsibility with the Green Bay Packers last year so it makes sense for a veteran like him to keep that role for Houston.

It’s been two games and Kirksey is already causing trouble for opposing offenses.

He leads the team in solo tackles (9) and tackles for loss (3). Kirksey’s played well in coverage this season and also has an interception to his stat line.

Granted, the throw wasn’t exactly a difficult play to make as Trevor Lawrence severely underthrew his wide receiver right into Kirksey’s hands. He’s also recovered a Donovan Peoples-Jones fumble that was caused by safety Jordan Reid.

It’s gonna be a chess match between Sam Darnold and Kirksey. The Texans linebacker has experience on his side and it might be difficult to throw him off.
