Panthers -8.0. 8.20 PM ET. 2-0. 87. 1-1. 10. NFL Network. Thursday, September 23

The Carolina Panthers are looking to continue their exceptional start to the 2021 season when they face off against the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football. Matt Rhule’s ever-improving roster has set the NFL alight thanks to a pair of dominant victories to open the campaign, something that has many believing that big things could be in the team’s not-too-distant future.

Of course, there is an element of complacency that might set in at NRG Stadium. Something that the coaching staff and players simply cannot allow.

The Texans are without starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor and have opted not to activate Deshaun Watson in favor of putting rookie Davis Mills in the firing line for his full debut against a defense that is causing untold problems for opposing protection schemes.

The task awaiting Mills is a steep one. But the Panthers need to leave no doubt regarding the overall result in front of a national audience for the first time this season.

Panthers Injury Report at Texans Week 3

Carolina has a relatively clean bill of health heading into Week 3. Interior offensive lineman Pat Elflein was put on injured/reserve with a hamstring problem this week, with Dennis Daley getting the start at left guard in what appears to be his final opportunity to prove himself as a reliable starter.

Yetur Gross-Matos will also miss the game with an ankle problem. But apart from that it’s all systems go where the Panthers are concerned.

Houston has a number of injury worries, with star safety Justin Reid listed as questionable.

These Texans players have been officially ruled out for Week 3:

  • WR Danny Amendola (thigh)
  • CB Terrance Mitchell (concussion)
  • QB Deshaun Watson (not injury related)

The following Texans players are questionable in Week 3:

  • LB Kamu Grugier-Hill (knee)
  • S Justin Reid (knee)
