3 winners and 3 losers from Panthers win at the Texans in Week 3
By Jason Huber
Who were the big winners and losers from the Carolina Panthers’ Week 3 victory over the Houston Texans?
For the first time since their Super Bowl season in 2015, the Carolina Panthers are 3-0 to start the year after a Thursday Night Football victory on the road against the Houston Texans.
Yet, even though they got the win, the Panthers suffered some big losses with injuries to Christian McCaffrey, Jaycee Horn, and Juston Burris.
The Texans started rookie quarterback Davis Mills after an injury to Tyrod Taylor and as expected, the Panthers’ defense continued its dominant start to the season by sacking him four times and pressuring him all night.
After McCaffrey’s hamstring injury in the second quarter, Carolina’s offense stalled after a stellar second-drive to score a touchdown in the first quarter.
It seemed for a minute that it would be a close low-scoring game between the two teams. But the Panthers came out strong in the second half to put Houston away.
The 3-0 start is very impressive but the Panthers still look far from being a contending team based on their offensive struggles.
It was a doozy of a game, so here’s a look at this week’s winners and losers.
