The Carolina Panthers defense

It’s starting to seem like every week the Carolina Panthers defense is a winner and that’s because they’re deserving of it.

Leading the NFL in the majority of defensive categories through the first two weeks of the season, Carolina’s defense came out Thursday night and did its job against a Houston Texans team starting a rookie quarterback.

Linebacker Haason Reddick continued his hot start to the season with 1.5 more sacks. Brian Burns had a sack, Frankie Luvu joined in and Morgan Fox picked up half a sack.

Linebacker Shaq Thompson also looked dominant once again, getting two of the Panthers nine quarterback hits on Davis Mills.

The Panthers now have a league-leading 14 sacks, which is the most in franchise history through the first three games of the season.

Against Carolina’s defense, Houston went 1-of-9 on third downs and recorded just 193 total net yards. That’s the third-straight game the Panthers have held their opponent to under 200 yards.

What a start to the year. And they’ll be needed more than ever moving forward.
