D.J. Moore – Carolina Panthers WR

Aside from a quick injury scare, D.J. Moore was probably the only offensive player that had an all-around very good night.

Moore immediately found his connection with Sam Darnold in the first quarter, having 76 receiving yards midway through the second quarter, and finished the first half with 100 receiving yards.

It was the most first-half receiving yards in his career and the most by any member of the Carolina Panthers since 2015.

In total, Moore finished with eight receptions for 126 yards and now has 285 receiving yards to start the season. Not too bad at all for the former first-round pick who could have a mega-money deal coming his way in the not-too-distant future.

The Panthers are going to need Moore plenty in the coming weeks if Christian McCaffrey cannot make a quick recovery. Darnold trusts the Maryland product more than any other weapon in the passing game, something that won’t go unnoticed by opposing defensive schemes.

Moore didn’t score in the game but he’s certainly continuing to make a case of why he deserves a new contract like Robby Anderson – who we’ll talk about in the next slide.
