Richard Sherman
This is going to come up a lot in the next few days one suspects.
Richard Sherman appears ready to play again after dealing with some personal turmoil this offseason. The former All-Pro corner was one of the best in the business once upon a time and although he might be a little long in the tooth, it represents an intriguing option for the Carolina Panthers to consider.
Sherman has close ties to general manager Scott Fitterer, who identified him as a key draft target during his time as director of college scouting with the Seattle Seahawks. This proved to be a shrewd move as the player went on to become a formidable member of their Legion of Boom defense.
Much will depend on whether Sherman is willing to sign with a team that has less chance of contending for a Super Bowl, especially now Christian McCaffrey is set to miss time. But it might be worth Fitterer giving him a call to see where he’s at regarding any upcoming decision.
Sherman would provide the Panthers with a solid cover option and another veteran presence alongside A.J. Bouye and Donte Jackson. Even when Jaycee Horn does return from injury, Sherman might still have a role to play in Phil Snow’s dynamic scheme.
