Another potential free-agent option that might be worth a look where the Carolina Panthers are concerned is Quinton Dunbar. The former Florida star has had some troubles with injuries over the years, but his talent is something that could be of use considering Jaycee Horn will be out of action for a considerable period.

Dunbar spent his first five years in Washington and appeared six times for the Seattle Seahawks in 2020. He was signed by the Detroit Lions in free agency but didn’t make it through training camp without being released.

The veteran gave up 30 receptions from 47 targets last time out. Dunbar might be on the backend in terms of production, but if A.J. Bouye can get back to something like his old self, he wouldn’t be tasked with significant responsibilities in coverage.

Not having Horn providing length and athleticism in pass defense is a real concern for Carolina. His mere presence was forcing opposing quarterbacks into alternative options and this was also bringing the best out of Donte Jackson in the process.

While someone like Dunbar doesn’t have that sort of enigmatic potential, he could be a serviceable alternative on the rotation until Horn gets back to full fitness – whenever that may be.
