The production ar safety has been largely pleasing overall. Jeremy Chinn’s slotted back seamlessly into a position he starred in college at Southern Illinois, with Juston Burris also showing signs of life now back at full health.

That being said, they might be on the lookout for an additional presence on the backend to give their options another shot in the arm. Sean Chandler has been serviceable after a standout training camp and preseason, but someone like Taylor Rapp would be a big-time upgrade and open things up further in terms of how Phil Snow deploys Chinn on the field.

The former second-round pick is an athletic individual who seems to fit the mold of what Matt Rhule is trying to build with the Carolina Panthers. Rapp’s been a solid contributor for the Los Angeles Rams over the last two seasons and a potential long-term partnership with Chinn could assist a young and ever-improving defense greatly.

Los Angeles won’t want to lose a starting figure on defense. But the simple fact of the matter is they haven’t got much in the way of draft capital over the next few years and Rapp is entering the final year of his deal in 2022.

This might be something to explore a little further down the line. However, the benefits of acquiring someone like Rapp are there for all to see.
