Andre Dillard – OT

It doesn’t appear as if Andre Dillard’s future with the Philadelphia Eagles is particularly bright. The offensive tackle has lost his starting position on the blindside and the organization might look to trade the former first-round pick before the deadline as a result.

This could be an opportunity for the Carolina Panthers. Dillard’s endured some torrid luck with injuries since arriving in the league, but it might be a little soon to give up on the player just yet.

Acquiring someone like Dillard – providing the price isn’t too steep – would potentially allow Cam Erving to move from the left tackle spot onto the interior in place of Pat Elflein, where he’s been more comfortable throughout his career.

A trade for Dillard comes with some risk, obviously.

On the other hand, it could be a masterstroke if the lineman finally starts realizing his potential.

The Panthers might be content to go with what they have and identify some college prospects that represent longer-term solutions regarding their protection. There also remains hope that Brady Christensen and Deonte Brown can become the team’s long-term guard tandem moving forward.

However, a low-risk, high reward trade for Dillard for what could probably be a mid-round pick is also something to contemplate.
