Which hot college prospects could now be on the Carolina Panthers 2022 NFL Draft radar after a strong start to the season?

It’s certainly been an eventful start to the 2021 college football season. There’s been plenty of upsets and the obvious dominance of Alabama, with prospects up and down the country boosting or decreasing their stock ahead of next year’s all-important evaluation process.

Although the Carolina Panthers are firmly focused on progressing on the field, those behind the scenes are already working hard on identifying the next batch of recruits that could potentially make a big difference.

General manager Scott Fitterer knows all-too-well the importance of finding the right pieces in the draft, with the front office figure gaining a formidable reputation during his time as director of college scouting at the Seattle Seahawks before arriving in Carolina.

With this in mind, here are six college players who should now be firmly on the Panthers draft radar after outstanding starts to the season.

Trevor Penning – OT (Northern Iowa)

It’s no secret that the Carolina Panthers could use a long-term solution at the left tackle position. This has been a glaring hole for seemingly forever and although Cam Erving hasn’t been awful over the last few weeks, the organization should consider this one of their top priorities next soring.

Much will depend on where Carolina is picking, but someone like Trevor Penning should be high on their shortlist of options already. The Northern Iowa stud has exceptional size and sneaky athleticism to match, making him a supreme force against the run or in passing situations.

Penning might be a hot commodity judging by the way he’s started the campaign. So whether he’ll be available for the Panthers is another matter entirely.
