Richard Sherman can still make plays for the Carolina Panthers

As stated previously, the days of Richard Sherman being a shutdown force are probably long gone. But that doesn’t mean he cannot make some big-time plays for the Carolina Panthers if they decide to acquire the cornerback.

Considering the Panthers have Donte Jackson and A.J. Bouye already on the team, Sherman’s role might be different from what he’s experienced in the past. Using him as the nickel cornerback or on the outside on occasions means the pressure would be off slightly, allowing him to transition smoothly into the system.

This seems like a win-win for all parties.

It gives Carolina a dependable veteran to replace Jaycee Horn and Sherman gets another opportunity to prove his career is far from finished.

One thing Sherman is renowned for is making big plays in crucial moments. This elevated him into the elite category pretty early on during his career and the Panthers could certainly use someone like this until Horn is ready for a return.

The fact Carolina called Sherman indicates that times are indeed changing within the organization under Scott Fitterer. He is still a big fish despite his advancing years and if the Panthers could pull this off, it’s a real statement of intent and further evidence that veteran players are starting to look at the franchise differently thanks to the new regime.
