5 big winners from the Carolina Panthers’ trade for C.J. Henderson
By Dean Jones
Who were the big winners from the Carolina Panthers trading for cornerback C.J. Henderson in the wake of Jaycee Horn’s injury?
This is not the type of front office that sits on their hands and waits for things to play out in front of them. The Carolina Panthers reacted quickly to Jaycee Horn’s broken foot suffered at the Houston Texans by landing C.J. Henderson in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars that saw Dan Arnold and a third-round pick go in the opposite direction.
Carolina also got a fifth-rounder from the Jaguars as part of the deal. So it could be a small price to pay for a player that was highly touted coming out of Florida in 2020 before Jacksonville took him at No. 9 overall.
The move was met with a great deal of excitement from Carolina’s loyal fanbase on social media. Another strong indicator of the belief in Matt Rhule, Scott Fitterer, and their staff that is growing with every passing day.
On this topic, here are five big winners from Carolina’s decision to bring Henderson on board.
Winner No. 1
Phil Snow – Carolina Panthers DC
The turnaround in Phil Snow’s defense so far this season has been remarkable. Something that’s been threatened in recent days thanks to the injuries to Jaycee Horn and Juston Burris on the backend.
Adding an intriguing piece like C.J. Henderson is yet another athletic tool for the defensive coordinator to utilize. Hopefully, his transition to the Carolina Panthers will be a smooth one, and Snow will already know plenty about the corner having scouted him heavily during the 2020 draft evaluation process.
This move doesn’t get signed off without Snow’s input. But what’s important now is for Henderson to pick things up quickly in pursuit of making an immediate impact.
