5 big winners from the Carolina Panthers’ trade for C.J. Henderson

A.J. Bouye – Carolina Panthers CB
Considering Jaycee Horn is going to potentially miss the remainder of the season, relying on veteran A.J. Bouye when he’s missed so much time was a huge risk. The free-agent signing from the Denver Broncos wasn’t activated on Thursday night despite seeing out his suspension, but there is real hope the Pro Bowler can be ready to go in Week 4 at the Dallas Cowboys.
That’s a fantastic boost for the secondary. But it’s worth remembering that Bouye missed a lot of training camp and didn’t appear in any preseason games due to injury.
He’ll know how to get his body ready given his experience, but there is nothing quite like competitive reps and Bouye might need a little time to get himself back into true game shape.
The C.J. Henderson trade helps Bouye out enormously.
Providing the former first-round pick hits the ground running.
Henderson’s athleticism and versatility could ensure the plan for Bouye doesn’t really change. The Panthers were going to utilize him as a slot cornerback more often than not and this can now go ahead as planned thanks to the latest trade made by general manager Scott Fitterer.
This is a win-win for Bouye, who could be the missing piece to the puzzle if he returns to the form of old.
