Carolina Panthers deploy more secondary rotation

Jaycee Horn breaking his foot at the Houston Texans was a significant blow for the Carolina Panthers. One that was made worse by safety Juston Burris joining the No. 8 overall selection on the reserve/injured list.

Acquiring C.J. Henderson via trade might be a masterstroke if the player can find his love for football once again. But just how much he’ll feature in this one is highly debatable.

This represents a problem for Phil Snow. The defensive coordinator has schemed things up superbly well through the first three games, but this represents something completely different against the Dallas Cowboys and their high-powered passing attack.

A.J. Bouye is set to come in for his first start after being inactive last week. But a secondary by committee approach could be something worthwhile while the former Pro Bowler gets himself back up to game day speed.

Henderson has to play some part in this scenario. Carolina also has the likes of Rashaan Melvin, Keith Taylor Jr., and Stantley Thomas-Oliver III to call upon if required.

As the old saying goes, styles make fights. The conundrum facing Snow is which players are capable of stopping Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb and company on any given down.

The savvy old fox will have something up his sleeve, make no mistake about that. But whether that’ll be enough is a question that could determine the overall outcome.
