4 Panthers players with work to do ahead of Week 4 at the Cowboys
Which Carolina Panthers players have work to do ahead of their Week 4 contest at the Dallas Cowboys?
Business is about to pick up for the Carolina Panthers as they get set for a crunch clash at the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4. The national NFL media are obviously having a field day with the fact Mike McCarthy’s men are showing signs of life, putting the achievements of Matt Rhule and his roster firmly on the backburner to focus their time on “America’s Team”.
That’s not something concerning Rhule judging by his recent comments. The Panthers are taking things one game at a time and if they can get through this latest challenge, then Carolina won’t be ignored much longer.
It’s going to be a huge test, especially without key men like Christian McCaffrey, Jaycee Horn, and Juston Burris. However, there seems to be sufficient roster depth, and if some who aren’t quite pulling their weight raise performance levels accordingly, then an upset could well be on the cards.
With this in mind, here are four Panthers players with work to do ahead of Week 4 at AT&T Stadium.
Player No. 1
Joseph Charlton – Carolina Panthers P
There aren’t many significant holes on the Carolina Panthers. But the production of punter Joseph Charlton needs to get better during a game where field position is going to be of critical importance.
Charlton enjoyed a superb 2020 season after going undrafted out of South Carolina. But with just a 38.2 yards-per-punt average, it’s clear he is not performing up to the standard required.
This is something he can rectify. We saw as much from Charlton last season.
However, it might not be much longer before the Panthers start looking at other alternatives if things don’t turn around in the not-too-distant future.
