Minnesota Vikings

One could make a case for the Minnesota Vikings being 3-0 ahead of Week 4 and not 1-2. They appear to be a strong unit after missing the postseason last time around, with quarterback Kirk Cousins a legitimate MVP contender after dazzling through the first three games.

That being said, there could be some pressure on Mike Zimmer if the Vikings don’t return to the playoffs or attain a winning record.

There’s nothing to suggest the head coach isn’t still commanding the utmost respect and effort from his players. But no knockout football again could lead to a changing of the guard following a hugely successful stint in the job.

Considering how much talent Minnesota has, this would be a plumb job for anyone looking to be a head coach. Zimmer won’t be giving it up without a fight, but some fresh ideas might be all it takes for this team to become a Super Bowl challenger.

Joe Brady has done great things with the scheme when Christian McCaffrey has been healthy, although the Carolina Panthers will be without his services for the next few weeks. This is something he could continue on the Vikings thanks to the presence of Dalvin Cook.

There would be more than a few interested parties if the Minnesota job did become available. But in fairness to Zimmer, he’s got a team that is capable of giving anybody a real game.
