Carolina Panthers pick No. 157: Arnold Ebiketie – DE/OLB (Penn State)

Arnold Ebiketie is a prospect that’s generated some real momentum of late. The edge rusher transferred from Matt Rhule’s former program Temple to Penn State in time for the 2021 season, which seems to have taken his game to new heights.

Not only is Ebiketie a formidable pass-rushing weapon, but his ability to set the edge in run support is something NFL scouts are going to love. He wouldn’t have what would be classed as elite numbers throughout his college career, but the prospect does all the little things really well and is worth a late-round flier here.

If the Carolina Panthers want another potential weapon to bolster their front seven, then Ebiketie fits the bill. Especially considering the likes of Haason Reddick, Marquis Haynes, and Frankie Luvu are all out of contract next spring.

Carolina wouldn’t need Ebiketie to assume a starting role anytime soon providing something can be worked out with Reddick. But his supreme athletic gifts could mean he finds his way onto the rotation right out of the gate.

It’s early days, obviously.

However, Ebiketie’s decision to test himself with the Nittany Lions before heading to the NFL seems to be paying off in spades.
