Sam Darnold – Carolina Panthers QB

  • Over 1.5 touchdowns (-115)

This is a big weekend for Sam Darnold. The quarterback’s made a very impressive start to life with the Carolina Panthers, demonstrating poise, improved decision-making, and guiding his team to a 3-0 record for good measure.

Many have attempted to pick holes in Carolina’s record so far. Granted, they haven’t faced the strongest opposition, but the New Orleans Saints thumped the Green Bay Packers on opening weekend and the Panthers made extremely light work of their NFC South rivals, who have since beaten the New England Patriots.

Darnold will get a stern test of his credentials in Week 4 against Dallas Cowboys defense that’s leading the league in takeaways. This is also the first time he won’t have the security blanket of Christian McCaffrey in the backfield for a full contest.

If Chuba Hubbard cannot get some early momentum on the ground, there’s going to be even more responsibility on Darnold’s shoulders to move the chains. Something he handled incredibly well at the Houston Texans in the second half.

The Panthers have a ton of talent in the passing game for Darnold to utilize. Providing the offensive line holds up against the likes of Micah Parsons and Randy Gregory, the signal-caller throwing for over 1.5 touchdowns is a good wager.
