5 key observations from Sam Darnold’s performance at the Cowboys

Sam Darnold responded well to going behind
Watching the defense get blown away for the Dallas Cowboys’ opening touchdown was a wake-up call for the Carolina Panthers. Something that we haven’t really seen at any stage during the season.
This was another big challenge for Sam Darnold. How would the quarterback respond to being behind for the first time during the current campaign?
As it turned out, it was yet another significant milestone for the signal-caller.
Darnold – helped by some magic from Chuba Hubbard and D.J. Moore – led his team down the field for another rushing touchdown and keep momentum ticking over when the Panthers needed him most.
To say it was loud at AT&T Stadium would be something of an understatement. However, Darnold was composed in the pocket and made some outstanding throws under pressure.
Credit must also go to offensive coordinator Joe Brady, who schemed up a strong series of plays which indicate his growing confidence in Darnold’s ability under center.
Plenty of twists and turns to come, obviously. And things didn’t quite go according to plan as the game went on.
