Sam Darnold became the NFL’s rushing TD leader

Just like everyone expected, Sam Darnold became the NFL’s rushing touchdown leader in the first half at the Dallas Cowboys. The quarterback showed off his wheels once again to run in two scores in the first half, giving the Carolina Panthers a slender 14-13 lead at the break.

This comes down to the scheme from Joe Brady and awareness from Darnold. A combination that’s worked wonders over the first four weeks of the season.

At the very least, this adds another dimension to Darnold’s game that flashed on the New York Jets. Especially with the offensive line struggling so much in pass protection.

Once the Panthers solve their protection issues, it’s only going to help Darnold and this offense roll even without Christian McCaffrey. Until then, they’ll have to make the best out of a bad situation.

Darnold gaining yards on the ground will help. Although expecting him to morph into Cam Newton is unrealistic.

It’s all confidence-boosting for the quarterback, which is pleasing.

Darnold could use a ton of that following a torrid three years at MetLife Stadium and having this tool also gives opposing defenses something else to think about other than just his ability in passing situations.
