5 key observations from Sam Darnold’s performance at the Cowboys
By Dean Jones
Sam Darnold had a decent day overall
Aside from the two interceptions, it was a decent day overall for Sam Darnold. One that wasn’t quite enough to get the Carolina Panthers another big win on the road in Week 4.
Credit to Darnold and the Panthers offense for showing some real fight in the fourth quarter to give them within one score. Unfortunately, the defensive side of things was less stellar and they didn’t get the stops needed to make things interesting.
Darnold’s final stats from the game weren’t the worst in the world by any stretch of the imagination.
- 66.67% completion
- 301 yards
- 2 passing touchdowns
- 2 rushing touchdowns
- 2 interceptions
- 5 sacks against
- 85.5 passer rating (ESPN)
On the bright side, Carolina won’t face many better teams than the Dallas Cowboys this season. But it’s vital the team puts the necessary adjustments in place to get back on track against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5.
As for Darnold, there was more good than bad. And it was a valiant effort in defeat.
