Donte Jackson – Carolina Panthers CB

It was not a good afternoon overall for the Carolina Panthers’ defense. Phil Snow’s formidable unit took the NFL by storm over the first three weeks, but they failed to make this momentum count against a superb and perfectly balanced offensive attack that Dallas Cowboys’ offensive coordinator Kellen Moore utilizes extremely well.

However, it wasn’t all doom and gloom.

The Panthers can thank Donte Jackson for that.

Jackson was arguably the one bright spot on defense in Week 4, which extends the former second-round pick’s tremendous start to the campaign.

He was primarily tasked with shutting down wide receiver CeeDee Lamb throughout the contest. Something he did extremely well despite the defensive front going through some difficulties for the first time this season.

Lamb was able to muster just two receptions from five targets for 13 receiving yards. Even though the Cowboys relied heavily on their run game, Jackson deserves all the credit in the world for keeping the Oklahoma product in check considering his recent good form.

This is yet another strong bargaining tool for Jackson’s representatives to call upon ahead of impending contract negotiations. Carolina has let some gifted corners leave for nothing in the past such as Josh Norman and James Bradberry – but they cannot do the same this time around.
