5 most disappointing Panthers players during loss at the Cowboys

Cam Erving – Carolina Panthers OT
The time could almost be upon the Carolina Panthers to end the Cam Erving at left tackle experiment.
A free-agent signing this offseason, Erving’s arrival was met by derision from large sections of the team’s fanbase, who saw enough from the player’s career so far to suspect things weren’t going to get better in Carolina.
Their fears have been realized, at least so far.
Erving has been targeted plenty by opposing pass-rushing schemes and this was no different at the Dallas Cowboys. The former first-round pick looks flustered constantly and he simply isn’t up to the required standard if Carolina wants to become postseason contenders sooner rather than later.
This was a particularly bad day at the office for Erving, who had a hard time coping with Randy Gregory and demonstrated real hesitancy protecting Sam Darnold on a consistent basis.
According to Pro Football Focus, Erving gave up one sack, three quarterback hits, and no fewer than three hurries. Not exactly the benchmark for elite left tackle production.
There is much work to do where Erving is concerned. Just why the Panthers felt the need to give him a two-year deal is a mystery and unless things take an astronomical turn for the better, his place is under severe threat.
