6 big winners from the Carolina Panthers trade for Stephon Gilmore

Scott Fitterer – Carolina Panthers GM
Another week, another major trade for Carolina Panthers general manager Scott Fitterer. The recent arrival from the Seattle Seahawks has revolutionized the way things are done in the front office from the moment he stepped into the organization – something that’s sent the team’s rebuild on a rapid trajectory.
The fact owner David Tepper gave Matt Rhule a seven-year deal indicated that getting Carolina back into contention would take some time. However, as the head coach pointed out in his presser following the trade, Fitterer is not wired that way.
"“This is the way Scott’s wired, and I don’t want to sit around and wait to win…we have a good team right now and we’re trying to become a great team.”"
Fitterer has almost the entire fanbase on board and fully believing in his abilities to secure the necessary pieces and get the Panthers back to relevance. Trading for Stephon Gilmore is a major coup and only cements the notion Tepper made the right call making him Carolina’s replacement for Marty Hurney.
There is a lot of work still to do, with strengthening the offensive line next on the hit list. But few would argue that Fitterer hasn’t made a fantastic first impression in the role.
And long may it continue.
