The Carolina Panthers escape a back and forth affair to go to 4-1

One thing that last week’s game in Dallas did expose is that there are some holes in the Carolina Panthers’ defense.

This unit did not give up more than 50 yards rushing total in each of the first three games of the season. The Cowboys did not pay much attention to those stats as they finished the day with 245 rushing yards.

The Panthers will likely not see the types of running backs from the Philadelphia Eagles that they saw in Dallas. But, they will be tasked with is an even more mobile quarterback in Jalen Hurts than they saw out of Dak Prescott.

In my honest opinion, that Week 4  performance was a one-off from what you will likely see from this group throughout the season. Couple that with a Panthers offense that will look to incorporate a new lead tight end and spread the ball out to other wide receivers not named D.J. Moore.

This game will come down to who makes the least mistakes, as it did last week. The Panthers will get an extra shot in the arm coming back to Bank of America Stadium and playing in front of a home crowd. Carolina finds a way to come out of this one 4-1 with a 34-28 victory.

The 34 won’t be from a missed extra point. Zane Gonzalez connects on his two field-goal attempts and makes all four of his PAT efforts.
