Which Carolina Panthers position groups must step up in Week 5 after a subpar showing at the Dallas Cowboys?

Week 5 kicked off with a bang on Thursday Night Football that saw a double punt, Russel Wilson’s maligned finger, and Matt Stafford ruining the Seattle Seahawks’ day. Can Sunday’s matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles bring the same energy and enthusiasm Carolina Panthers fans are anticipating after a paltry showing at AT&T Stadium last week?

With the Eagles now 1-3 coming off a loss to the high-octane Kansas City Chiefs, both teams have a sour taste in their mouth and will attempt to right the ship during this showdown.

After manhandling the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1, the Eagles are on a three-game losing streak and tied for last place in the NFC East. Like the Panthers’ defense, Philadelphia’s offense is a young, hungry group ready to make their mark on the league led by former Alabama and Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Their defense is seventh in passing yards allowed. But last in rushing yards conceded with only one interception and eight sacks.

After two weeks in the Lone Star state, the Panthers will be in the friendly confines of Bank of America Stadium sporting their black jerseys for the first time this season. Injuries are a concern as are the third-quarter woes.

Scott Fitterer has been busy improving the roster with hungry, talented athletes looking to get back to the postseason after a three-year absence, with the team landing another major coup this week in the form of Stephon Gilmore.

Which position groups must step up in Week 5 to move to 4-1? Let’s check it out.
