Carolina Panthers got nothing from QB Sam Darnold

We’ve already spoken about how much the interior is a mess right now. But one cannot overlook the lack of production from Carolina Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold in Week 5.

The former first-round pick looked more like the signal-caller we saw for three years on the New York Jets than the rejuvenated figure everyone witnessed over the opening three games of the 2021 campaign.

Darnold was hesitant in the pocket, his timing was off with key receivers, and when the Panthers needed him to step up down the stretch, the player failed to deliver.

This was Darnold’s worst game in a Carolina uniform.

By a huge margin.

Darnold completed just 56.75 percent of his passes for 177 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. He was also sacked three times, but this game was full of missed opportunities for the USC product after the defense kept them in the game.

What comes next for Darnold is a massive test of resolve. He might want to talk himself out of reading or listening to any analysis this week ahead of what’s going to be a significant challenge against the Minnesota Vikings and their formidable defensive front.
