Donte Jackson – Carolina Panthers CB

To say Donte Jackson has started the season in fine form would be the biggest of understatements. The cornerback is playing like a man that wants a lucrative contract extension at the end of the campaign and based on his recent performances, the Carolina Panthers would be extremely foolish to let the former second-round pick walk in free agency.

Jackson was nothing short of sensational against the Philadelphia Eagles. He was solid in coverage, came up with two turnovers in consecutive defensive plays, and maintained his improved tackling to a degree that one needs to start considering him as one of the league’s top performers.

The most important factor where Jackson is concerned this season has been his ability to stay free of injury. Something that really hampered the LSU product in 2020.

Making Jackson a team captain was a shrewd move by the Panthers.

Giving the player more responsibility in terms of leadership has been the making of him, but he’ll get another stern test of his credentials this weekend against the Minnesota Vikings and their stud wide receiver tandem of Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen.

If Jackson can come through this with another exceptional showing, then it will further cement his status as an indispensable member of Carolina’s roster.
