A.J. Bouye – Carolina Panthers CB

This was A.J. Bouye‘s coming-out party in his second game for the Carolina Panthers.

The cornerback was exceptional from start to finish and displayed the sort of effort in all facets of the game that will ensure he still has a part to play even when All-Pro Stephon Gilmore is activated following his trade from the New England Patriots.

Bouye sat out the first three games of the campaign due to suspension and the Panthers integrating him slowly. It’s worth remembering that the free-agent signing from the Denver Broncos missed most of Carolina’s training camp through injury, but judging by this performance it’s clear he’s keen to make up for some lost time.

For all the Panthers’ faults – and there were many – Bouye’s production was almost flawless. Something he can build on moving forward.

The Pro Bowler seems to have been largely forgotten after the Panthers drafted Jaycee Horn and traded for Gilmore and C.J. Henderson. But outside of a difficult 2020 season, his proven production at the highest level is a tremendous asset.
