Carolina Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard rushes for 150 yards

The Carolina Panthers ruled Christian McCaffrey out yet again this week, leaving the team without its key man for a third straight week. This is a major blow, with the All-Pro missing 16 of the last 22 games since Matt Rhule took over as head coach.

Chuba Hubbard was drafted in the fourth round of the 2021 draft to serve as the complement to McCaffrey. But just three games into the season, he is now being looked at as the feature back.

Last week against Philadelphia, Hubbard received the most action he has all season. The Oklahoma State product rushed for 101 yards on 24 carries.

The Panthers recently cut ties with running back Rodney Smith early this week. That will only increase the number of snaps Hubbard sees in Week 6.

The Minnesota Vikings have given up 100+ rushing yards in every game this season. With the Panthers seeing an increase in turnovers by the quarterback in recent weeks, it would make sense to lean more upon the rushing attack rather than open up the passing game.

Look for Hubbard to have another 20+ carry afternoon and find success in the running game as he continues to get more comfortable with the speed of NFL defenses. Although much will depend on how Carolina’s offensive line copes with an enormous amount of pressure on their shoulders.
