Carolina Panthers fantasy football outlook for Week 6 vs. Vikings
D.J. Moore – Carolina Panthers WR
Through no fault of his own, D.J. Moore had his first dud performance of the season. The wide receiver had five catches for 42 yards as Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay took advantage of Sam Darnold basically telegraphing his targets.
Moore’s 8.80 fantasy points were by far his lowest yet, but he still remains a top-seven wideout in fantasy entering Week 6.
Start or Sit in Week 6?
Buyer Beware.
The Minnesota Vikings have a fairly stingy pass defense. The rank 13th in passing yards allowed per game and 14th best against wide receivers in fantasy.
They don’t have a cornerback as good as Slay on the roster, so Moore may produce. But you may be able to find a better WR/FLEX matchup than this one.
Robby Anderson – Carolina Panthers WR
Robby Anderson has had an inexplicably bad start to the 2021 season. But like Moore, the burden of blame is not all on the former Temple wide receiver.
Darnold has missed easy throws to Anderson, including at least two “should have been touchdown” deep balls in the last four games. The sixth-year wideout and his fantasy owners have every right to be frustrated and I love his answer to the media this week regarding his “passionate” outburst on the sideline last Sunday.
Start or Sit in Week 6?
SIT.
At this point, we’re just waiting for the Darnold/Anderson mystery to be solved. A breakout game against Minnesota’s pass defense could be just what the doctor ordered as the schedule ahead gets a little softer. But don’t bet on it quite yet.
Terrace Marshall Jr./Tommy Tremble – Carolina Panthers WR/TE
Terrace Marshall Jr. caught two balls for 14 yards against the Eagles. He’s been solid but is still waiting for his opportunity to show why the Carolina Panthers drafted him in the second round.
Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble already has two more touchdowns than his fellow rookie teammate, but is similarly lacking the production fans may have been hoping for when he was drafted.
Against Philadelphia, Tremble caught two balls for 12 yards, a touchdown, and 9.20 fantasy points.
Start or Sit in Week 6?
SIT.
Tremble is being used as a gadget player so far and Minnesota is a top-10 team against tight ends in fantasy. We’ve already covered the Viking’s pass defense which is part of the reason why we’re sitting Marshall, but I’m fascinated to see if he plays with some extra juice thanks to former LSU teammate Justin Jefferson watching on the other side.
