Zane Gonzalez – Carolina Panthers K

Zane Gonzalez is earning his keep as the Carolina Panthers kicker so far, but with struggling punter Joseph Charlton on the reserve/injured list, he will be doing double duty against the Minnesota Vikings.

The veteran kicker was the sixth best kicker in fantasy last week, making all three of his field goal attempts – including one 50-yarder – for a total of 12 fantasy points.

Gonzalez has earned it and Minnesota is 28th in the NFL against kickers in fantasy. But hopefully he won’t have to punt much in addition to being asked to make kicks.

Carolina Panthers DST

The Carolina Panthers defense bounced back from a shredding against the Dallas Cowboys with a superb performance against the Eagles. Phil Snow’s unit parlayed two sacks, one interception, one fumble recovery, and one safety into eight fantasy points.

The offense unfortunately did the unit no favors but one has to wonder what the outcome of the game could have been if the Panthers defense is able to recover a Jalen Hurts strip sack in the end zone for a touchdown instead of safety.

The heroics of Jeremy Chinn helped lead the Panthers defense to 19 points against the Adam Theilen-less Vikings in Minnesota last year. Despite two straight losses and no Shaq Thompson, this defense is still very good, especially against the pass.

Carolina is in the top spot of the NFL allowing only 161.6 yards per game.
