Carolina Panthers QB

Which Sam Darnold will show up this Sunday?

Will we have the quarterback we saw from Weeks 1-3 or the signal-caller that’s thrown five picks over the last two games?

Darnold looked like a new man at the start of the season. One who was confident, made good decisions, and limited his mistakes.

He threw well, ran when needed, scored touchdowns, and went through his progressions on passing plays.

However, over the last fortnight we have seen interceptions, a lack of confidence, missing open receivers, and not getting rid of the ball under pressure.

Are we seeing glimpses of who the New York Jets were happy to move on from for only three picks and no first-rounder after 3 seasons?

Darnold is either the long-term answer at the position or merely a stopgap. The Carolina Panthers cannot afford multiple seasons attempting to decipher how to best staff this position.

Owner David Tepper has been successful in everything he does and I cannot imagine he will stand for mediocrity here. The coaching staff must develop Darnold or general manager Scott Fritterer will be back on the phones at season’s end looking for a trade partner.

With a high of 68 degrees Sunday, we have perfect football weather for an early afternoon kickoff. Donning the black jerseys again, Matt Rhule, Darnold, and company will look to get back on track for a wild card postseason slot.
