It’s time for the Carolina Panthers to put up or shut up when they host the Minnesota Vikings at Bank of America Stadium in Week 6. Two straight defeats for Matt Rhule’s men have seen their bubble well and truly burst over the last fortnight, with Sunday’s game one that represents something of a crossroads despite being so early in the campaign.

The Panthers need to raise their efforts considerably against the Vikings team with an abundance of talent. Their 2-3 record is deceiving and they have players who can really hurt you on both sides of the football.

It’s been a difficult week for everyone associated with Carolina. Discouraging injury news and fingers of blame being pointed in all directions following the team’s second-half collapse against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Something similar in this one would be nothing short of catastrophic. So each roster member and the coaching staff needs to show tremendous resolve from start to finish and finally play a complete game in pursuit of getting themselves back in the win column.

Panthers Injury Report vs Vikings Week 6

Obviously, there was one big factor surrounding Carolina’s injury report this week. Christian McCaffrey’s status was something to monitor closely, but after practicing on Wednesday the running back was nowhere to be seen thereafter.

Not only did those in power rule him out for Week 6, but they also placed McCaffrey on the reserve/injured list on Saturday for good measure.

This is a bitter blow, it’s that simple. McCaffrey will miss a further three games and his iron man image is now a thing of the past, so just where the player and the Panthers go from here is up for debate,

Rookie guard Deonte Brown and punter Joseph Charlton also made the trip to IR this week, although Cam Erving was a full participant in practice and is good to go.

Here is Carolina’s final injury report for Week 6:

  • RB Christian McCaffrey – Out (hamstring)
  • OLB Shaq Thompson – Out (foot)
  • LB Kamal Martin – Out (concussion)
  • OG Deonte Brown – Out (knee)
  • CB C.J. Henderson – Questionable (shoulder)

Here is Minnesota’s final injury report for Week 6:

  • TE Ben Ellefson – Out (knee)
  • DT Michael Pierce – Out (elbow)

Odds, Spread, Over/Under & Betting Pick Week 6

WynnBET’s Week 6 NFL odds have Carolina as underdogs by 2.5 points at home. The money line odds are +123 for the Panthers (bet $100 to win $123), with the Vikings favored at -143 (bet $143 to win $100).

The over/under set by WynnBET is 46.0, which is available at -110 (bet $110 to win $100) whichever way you choose to go.

This is a tough one to call either way. Both teams have an enormous amount at stake so perhaps these nerves could see a game where defenses shine. Therefore, we’re betting the under 46.0, but which way the contest goes is another matter.
