Seattle Seahawks should sign Cam Newton

Losing Russell Wilson to injury for the first time in his career was a body blow for the Seattle Seahawks, who just so happen to find themselves in arguably the NFL’s most competitive division. Geno Smith might be a serviceable backup, but he won’t be leading Pete Carroll’s men to the postseason.

If the Seahawks want to reignite their chances, then signing Cam Newton would be a good place to start. The quarterback may have some questions to answer regarding arm strength, but his ability to run the football is still something opposing defenses have to take seriously.

Newton made this part of his game famous during his illustrious spell with the Carolina Panthers that almost resulted in a Super Bowl. Something that the Seahawks could use while they wait for Wilson to make his return later in the campaign.

This seems like a win-win for all parties.

It gives Newton the chance to instantly start and put himself in the shop window by making one last attempt to prove he still has much more to give.

For the Seahawks, it would provide the organization with a proven starter. Someone that the roster and the team’s fanbase can get behind with a view to losing little momentum as Wilson recuperates.
