Washington should sign Cam Newton

This potential reunion between Ron Rivera and Cam Newton has been speculated for some time. The pair enjoyed some incredible success together on the Carolina Panthers, which almost came with the organization’s first-ever Super Bowl victory in 2015.

The Washington Football Team‘s season hasn’t gone as smoothly as many expected over the first six games. Rivera overcame significant adversity last time around to lead his team to the playoffs despite undergoing cancer treatment, but they are pretty far behind the Dallas Cowboys in terms of talent and their record thus far.

Taylor Heinicke – another ex-Panther – is the current No. 1 and has done okay in the circumstances. But if Washington wants an instant impact guy that can completely shift the dynamic then it might be worth Rivera picking up the phone and seeing whether Newton is interested.

This would be a bombshell, there’s no getting away from that.

But now Newton has reportedly received the COVID-19 vaccination in a bid to get one more starting shot in the NFL, this is a scheme he can immediately fit into and he already knows what’s expected with a coach that drafted him and led the player to superstardom in no time at all.
