Frankie Luvu and Kenny Robinson – Carolina Panthers LB/S

Two players receive this honor because the entire sequence wouldn’t have happened without both of their contributions together.

With eight minutes remaining in the third quarter, Carolina Panthers linebacker Frankie Luvu blocked a Minnesota Vikings punt that was then scooped up by safety Kenny Robinson and returned for a touchdown.

According to Carolina’s statistician Will Bryan, this was only the second time in team history that a blocked punt was returned for a touchdown.

The last time it happened according to Bryan? In 1998 when Dwight Stone blocked a punt against the Washington Football Team.

The touchdown ended up giving the Panthers the lead in the third quarter but unfortunately, the momentum didn’t stick around as Minnesota went on to regain the lead.

Luvu also finished the game with five tackles, including one for a loss. He is proving to be a shrewd acquisition in free agency from the New York Jets, bringing the intensity and effort that’s sorely lacking in other phases.
