Frankie Luvu – Carolina Panthers OLB

The Carolina Panthers got more than they bargained for with Frankie Luvu. He quickly went from the roster bubble to a key rotational piece during training camp and his production against the Minnesota Vikings was further proof that the team needs to be using him more when the opportunity arises.

Luvu’s energy and ability to be around the ball consistently is a sight to behold. Something that the player rarely displayed on the New York Jets – probably for matters outside of his control.

However, Luvu is coming up with some huge plays for the Panthers. None more so than in Week 6.

With the game getting away from Carolina, Luvu shifted the momentum in their favor by blocking a punt that eventually led to a Kenny Robinson touchdown, which put the Panthers up by five at the time.

Unfortunately, this didn’t end up being the spark to end Carolina’s losing run.

Not only was Luvu a positive presence on special teams, but he also took advantage of Shaq Thompson’s injury by making a real difference in the defensive lineup on his way to seven tackles and one tackle for loss from 42 percent of the team’s snaps.

The only way is up for Luvu. And the Panthers would be wise to keep him as a big part of their plans.
