Robby Anderson – Carolina Panthers WR

Things just haven’t gone Robby Anderson‘s way this season, The wide receiver hasn’t hit his stride despite a familiar presence under center in Sam Darnold and although he did find the end zone late on against the Minnesota Vikings, it was another sub-par display from the former Temple product.

Anderson dropped a few passes which a player of his caliber should collect. This has been the story of his season and even when the wideout is getting open, Darnold doesn’t seem to have the right sort of timing to connect with his receiver.

In fairness to Anderson, he came out and owned everything that transpired in Week 6. He also appeared extremely eager to put things right upon his return to MetLife Stadium.

"“I hold myself to a high regard. And more importantly, a high regard for contributing and helping my teammates. I feel like there were a few plays early in the game I could have made that would have been more beneficial. But it’s not how you start; it’s how you finish sometimes, and I kept fighting, and it came down to crunch time, and I kept my head in it and made some plays that contributed to us having a chance. It’s not cool for me, it’s not funny for me to not play to my standard or expectation. So I’m definitely going to go hard this week to get it corrected.”"

Saying this is one thing.

Doing it is another matter entirely.

The Carolina Panthers didn’t give Anderson a two-year extension this offseason for him to regress in such a manner. However, there is enough to suggest he can get out of this recent slump and start making the big-time plays we saw plenty from the player in 2020.
