Sam Darnold – Carolina Panthers QB

Sam Darnold is on the brink after just six games under center for the Carolina Panthers. An outstanding start to the campaign against less than stellar opposition was swiftly followed by some disastrous performances and decisions that have seen his interceptions skyrocket from one to seven in the blink of an eye.

This was the big worry where Darnold is concerned before he even played a down in Carolina. His three years on the New York Jets were littered with the same mistakes and if things continue like this for much longer, the Panthers could be on the lookout for yet another signal-caller next spring.

Darnold goes back to where it all began this weekend. Although one suspects MetLife Stadium doesn’t hold the best memories for the USC product.

He’ll also be getting endless grief from the New York Giants’ raucous fanbase, who know just what comes when Darnold isn’t fully focused on the task at hand.

The Giants are giving up 264.2 yards per game through the air through six games. So if Darnold cannot produce the goods against this sort of pass defense, it’s going to cast even more doubt on his ability to lead this team long-term.
