Sam Darnold – Carolina Panthers QB

Sam Darnold has dropped from fifth to 11th in quarterback fantasy scoring in two weeks. Despite the slump, the Carolina Panthers signal-caller is on more rosters on NFL.com and Yahoo than he was before they took on the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5.

Darnold was absurdly inaccurate against the Minnesota Vikings with a 41.46 percent completion percentage. But he finished with 15.08 fantasy points, more than 250 total yards and a touchdown.

Carolina’s commitment to the run should pay dividends for Darnold’s efficiency, but how much will it cost his fantasy owners?

Start or Sit Week 7?

START.

The Panthers’ defense has been superb at getting Darnold and the offense plenty of chances with the ball. The unit has the NFL’s top three-and-out percentage (38%) and is second overall in third-down stops.

Lately, Carolina’s offense has been bad at rewarding the defense for their effort. But the Eagles and Vikings both boasted top-10 pass defenses.

This week, Darnold should bounce back against a New York Giants defense that’s allowing more than 264 passing yards per game.
