Carolina Panthers to cover -1.5 spread (1st half)

As stated previously, the Carolina Panthers have relied heavily on strong first-half performances so far this season. Their three defeats all came when things didn’t exactly go according to plan in the first two quarters and it’s absolutely vital that they return to the form that saw them emerge unbeaten from their opening three contests.

The struggles after the halftime break are there for all to see this season and throughout Matt Rhule’s tenure as head coach. These ongoing frustrations don’t seem to be going away, so getting out on the front foot at the New York Giants is of critical importance.

New York is reeling and comes into the fixture with a 1-5 record and without multiple stars. Carolina has to set the tone and throttle the Giants right out of the gate – which could see them snatch away any remaining confidence currently situated within the opposition.

The Panthers should not take the Giants lightly. Not by any stretch of the imagination.

But as bounce-back games go, they couldn’t have picked a better one.

Improving execution on both sides of the ball will go a long way to achieving this. Week 6 was littered with individual errors and the Panthers can ill-afford the same happening in pursuit of getting themselves back in the win column.

It won’t take much improvement to beat the Giants. So taking them to cover a 1.5-point spread at the half is a good option at -110 (bet $110 to win $100).
