P.J. Walker – Carolina Panthers QB

The calls for backup quarterback P.J. Walker to replace Sam Darnold began to take place early in the game on social media. However, when the signal-caller finally did get a chance to step in during the fourth quarter, he did very little to inspire any confidence that he’s the answer at the position.

There’s a reason Walker has been a backup the past two years with the Carolina Panthers and that’s because he’s not very good. He’s had moments in preseason but that’s it.

Walker went 3-of-14 for 33 yards and was sacked three times in his short period of time against the New York Giants. But in fairness to the former XFL MVP candidate, it was a tough situation to come in with nothing being generated.

I’m not sure why Panthers fans thought Walker would come in and save the day, but they should have their answer now.

Simply put, Carolina doesn’t have a great – or even a good – quarterback on the roster right now.

Walker had his chance but failed. And perhaps he’s just destined to be a backup for as long as he’s in the league.
