Ryan Winslow – Carolina Panthers P
Playing in his second game as the Carolina Panthers punter with Joseph Charlton injured, Ryan Winslow did his team no favors against the New York Giants.
Winslow averaged a poor 36.9 yards in five punts, had none land inside the 20 and only had a long of 46. He had one punt that only went 28 yards.
Charlton was struggling some before he got injured but Winslow hasn’t done anything to prove why he should get the full-time job and he also didn’t help put the Panthers in any good field position on Sunday. The Giants average drive started at their own 36-yard line.
It’s not too often that a punter is a reason you lose a game but Winslow certainly didn’t help Carolina.
Now considering everything else going on, there is every likelihood that Winslow will become a sacrifice this week as the Panthers look to improve this particular area of the field. While that’s all well and good, they have far bigger problems that need to be rectified at the earliest possible opportunity.
