Again, this would require waiting until the 2022 offseason, which could be another one full of speculation regarding the future of Russell Wilson.

The quarterback leaked information about his unhappiness with the Seattle Seahawks earlier this year and even went as far as to list some potential destinations of interest. Although the Carolina Panthers weren’t among them, if they are still seeking a new signal-caller then making a trade offer is something to consider.

Wilson is an exciting and productive threat under center. He emerged from an unfancied prospect out of Wisconsin to one of the league’s best players at the position and it just so happened that Scott Fitterer was director of college scouting with the Seahawks at the time he was drafted.

Fitterer saw something in Wilson. This was obviously rewarded with a Super Bowl ring and almost a decade of elite production so far.

Convincing Wilson that the Panthers are an attractive destination would be tricky. There is also his salary to consider when examining a potential move.

Wilson is owed $37 million and $40 million over the final two years of his deal. Trading him after June 1 would save Seattle $24 million on their cap, but it’s unlikely David Tepper’s patience will wait that long.
