4 dream trade targets for the Panthers before the 2021 deadline
By Dean Jones
Andrew Norwell – Former Carolina Panthers OG
- 2021 team – Jacksonville Jaguars
Looking back, the Carolina Panthers letting Andrew Norwell leave in free agency was a mistake. Perhaps it’s time for the new regime to rectify this before the 2021 trade deadline.
As stated previously, the Panthers aren’t exactly setting the NFL alight with their protection. This is especially evident on the interior, with the likes of Dennis Daley, Matt Paradis, John Miller, and Michael Jordan all struggling at times during the campaign.
Norwell is in the final year of his deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Few would argue he isn’t a significant upgrade on anything Carolina’s utilized at the left guard spot so far, which has been a revolving door as the Panthers try and find the right answer.
He has yet to give up a sack this season and conceded five penalties from 383 snaps on his way to a respectable 67.9 grade from Pro Football Focus. But whether the Jaguars want to take away one of Trevor Lawrence’s primary protectors is another matter entirely.
This would be a popular move by the Panthers. Norwell was a commanding interior presence and formed a prolific guard partnership with Trai Turner, so providing the compensation isn’t too steep it’s definitely something that could help in 2021 and possibly beyond.
