Robby Anderson – Carolina Panthers WR

There is no denying Robby Anderson‘s talent. Last season’s production for the Carolina Panthers proved what a difference-maker he can be.

But for whatever reason, things just aren’t falling the wide receiver’s way in 2021.

Anderson has been a shell of his former self. It’s not all on him, but the mental errors when it comes to drops are really hurting the team in critical moments.

Whether it’s just momentary lapses or a case of the “yips” is unclear. Anderson’s chemistry with quarterback Sam Darnold is also not what anybody expected and it’s going to take a pretty drastic turnaround if the former Temple star wants to reach the 1,000-yard milestone for a second straight campaign.

There is no doubt Anderson will still be part of the scheme in Week 8. The Panthers are dealing with some injuries at the wide receiver spot and this only heightens the urgency for the No. 2 option to make a lasting contribution.

Relaxation is the key here. Anderson and the Panthers must stop forcing the issue and allow the wideout to bring things along slowly to build back some confidence.

Anderson signed a two-year extension this offseason. Trading him after June 1 next year represents a cap saving of $13 million, so if he doesn’t buck up his ideas, it becomes a more realistic proposition.
