Carolina Panthers are a wounded animal
Last weekend might just have been rock bottom for the Carolina Panthers. A complete embarrassment that no doubt deeply hurt everyone associated with the organization.
And those that might not be hurting should be. It was nothing short of pathetic and any similar level of performance at the Atlanta Falcons will not be tolerated.
This is a sentiment echoed by defensive end Brian Burns, who was one of the only shining lights at MetLife Stadium and was not at all happy during his press conference shortly after he left the field.
"“We need to fix it right now before it gets scary. It’s scary right now, to be honest. Whatever it is, we need to fix it now and bounce back like no other. I don’t want to have another season like, . . . some other seasons I’ve been part of. It’s embarrassing. No disrespect to the Giants, but it’s embarrassing to lose four in a row.”"
There is far too much talent in Carolina’s locker room for them to be coming up short like this. Even if some problem position groups are clearly holding them back.
Adopting a wounded animal approach in Week 8 could lead to some increased production. Although such a complete change in fortunes would be nothing short of remarkable given the current state of affairs.
Getting off to a good start is crucial.
If the Panthers can quieten the crowd and dictate the tempo, they might just have a chance.
