D.J. Moore – Carolina Panthers WR

D.J. Moore had a decent fantasy day for the first time since his almost 32-point outing against the Dallas Cowboys. He caught six of 10 targets for 73 yards, tallying a respectable 13.30 fantasy points.

Moore is a great player, but not the type of receiver that disguises the decencies of a quarterback. Fantasy owners will be closely monitoring how Sam Darnold’s struggles affect his play moving forward.

START.

Very tough call here, but Moore is still Darnold’s preferred target and the Atlanta Falcons defense has coughed up almost 40 fantasy points per game to wide receivers. The Carolina Panthers will also be leaning on the former first-round pick heavily given the problems elsewhere.

Robby Anderson – Carolina Panthers WR

Despite garnering nine targets, Robby Anderson only caught three passes for 14 yards in Sunday’s loss.

Early in the season, Anderson wasn’t getting enough looks. Perhaps due in part to the absence of Christian McCaffrey, that has changed the wideout has gotten at least seven targets in the last four contests.

Even though more targets are coming his way, the sixth-year wide receiver has yet to surpass the yards (57) and fantasy points (12.70) he tallied in Week 1.

Start or Sit Week 8?

SIT.

Name a good reason to start him. There’s still a lot of football left so there’s time for Anderson to turn things around, but things just haven’t been going his way.

Shi Smith – Carolina Panthers WR & Carolina Panthers TEs

Wideout Shi Smith had zero catches on two targets in the loss at the New York Giants but will have another chance to make an impact while Terrace Marshall continues to be out. Ian Thomas also had zero catches on two targets despite playing over 70 percent of the team’s snaps.

Rookie tight end Tommy Tremble caught both his targets for 12 yards.

Start or Sit Week 8?

SIT.

Don’t expect a breakout performance from any of the young pass-catchers. We just haven’t seen enough to warrant starting them.
